Arthritis Pain Treatment in Hyderabad
Arthritis refers to more than 100 medical conditions that affect the musculoskeletal system, particularly joints where two or more bones meet. The most common forms are osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and gout. Common symptoms include joint pain, stiffness, inflammation, swelling, reduced movement, and general fatigue. While arthritis is more common in older adults, it can affect children, adolescents, and working-age individuals. Along with back pain, arthritis is a leading cause of disability and early retirement.

Causes of Arthritis:
The three main types of arthritis — osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and gout — affect joints differently.

Osteoarthritis:
The most common form of arthritis, osteoarthritis, occurs due to wear-and-tear damage to the joint’s cartilage. Cartilage cushions bones and allows for smooth movement, but over time, this cushion can wear down, leading to bone grinding on bone, causing pain and limiting movement. It can be triggered by years of joint use, injury, or infection. Osteoarthritis also affects surrounding tissues, ligaments, and joint linings.

Rheumatoid Arthritis:
Rheumatoid arthritis is an autoimmune disorder where the body’s immune system attacks the joint lining, leading to inflammation and swelling. This process can destroy the cartilage and bone within the joint over time, causing significant pain and deformity.

Gout:
Gout is caused by the buildup of uric acid, leading to painful inflammation in a joint, often affecting the big toe but also the hands, wrists, knees, and ankles. Uric acid buildup is triggered by certain foods, drinks, or cell breakdown in the body.

Other Types of Arthritis Include:

  • Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis
  • Psoriatic Arthritis
  • Reactive Arthritis
  • Septic Arthritis
  • Thumb Arthritis
  • Ankylosing Spondylitis
  • Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (Lupus)
  • Wrist Arthritis, Foot Arthritis, Elbow Arthritis, Hand Arthritis, Shoulder Arthritis, Spinal Arthritis/Stenosis, Ankle Arthritis

Treating Arthritis Pain:

Many treatments can help control arthritis symptoms and prevent joint damage, depending on the type of arthritis and which joints are affected.

Treatment options may include:

  • Medications: Painkillers, anti-inflammatory drugs, or disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs (DMARDs) for inflammatory arthritis like rheumatoid arthritis and ankylosing spondylitis.
  • Pain management techniques: Meditation and relaxation techniques.
  • In severe cases, surgery may be required to replace or repair damaged joints.

The most suitable treatment will depend on the specific type of arthritis and the severity of symptoms.
